The Surf Rider has great slices with a variety of pizzas. Great crispy crust with great toppings that won't leave you feeling like you ate a loaf of bread. Two outdoor patios, seating inside and a bar setting for tap beers. Lots of natural light and fresh air to sit and enjoy the unique ambiance. The Surf Rider has always been super clean every time I visit. Family friendly, my recommendation to you ... Cheers!! 🥂

I recently popped into this venue for a quick bite to eat. They had a variety of different styles to choose from. Both slices I tried were tasty. They had a pretty solid lunch special also. There’s tons of room both inside and outside and they had a ton of brew on tap. Cool spot if your looking for good pizza and a casual place to hangout.

Direct quotes from my kids: “This is the best pizza ever!” “This is really good.” This place is hopping, one of the most friendly and busiest restaurants in downtown Historic La Mesa. Likely because of the fun atmosphere, reasonable prices and family friendly decor. It really was the busiest and most popular place on the night of the 2022 street winter festival. The pizza is decent. It’s thin crust, and uses fresh ingredients. We ordered take out in order to eat on the street during the winter festival. I was told 30-35 minutes for food preparation, but it wasn’t done for over 45 min - they were BUSY. Unfortunately, they gave me the entirely wrong pizza when I picked up my order. We had waited so long we chose to eat it anyways, but we did go back to let them know. They thanked us for letting them know and cooked a replacement immediately, about another 10 minutes. They made a mistake, but were quick to correct it. Too bad it took so long to make the first pizza…but the correction was made. I believe they just mistakenly swapped pizzas with another order. We also tried their Greek salad, which was great and the dirty wings- one of my daughters thought the chicken was incredible. It was tasty. It’s a fun restaurant. Your family will enjoy it.

Found myself at Trivia Wednesday night in the well-heated patio of this joint. (Wanted to seek out my "smartest friends" to ask about today's nuclear fusion breakthrough in the news!) I was a bit hungry, so I ordered a Calzone off the menu. It arrived, and it was HUGE! Says "feeds 1-2 people" but, wow. I guess I was imagining something the size of a hot pocket! I wasn't prepared to devour this major meal so I set it aside. The staff became concerned that I was displeased - I insisted everything was great, but that I should have ordered something a bit more "snackable." One of the staff members recommended a slice of pizza. In my lifetime every single attempt to buy pizza by the slice has been a culinary bummer. Did you know they reheat the slices! In the oven! Slices arrive fresh and yummy! We will be returning often. Note to the owners: I asked your staff for a list so I can let you know these young adults were handling that crowd very well. Beer was cold, food was hot, and despite the chill outside the open-air patio was well-heated. Carlos, Heather, Drew, and Jessica. Really neat, fun and colourful decor throughput in a family friendly setting that easily stands out in downtown La Mesa. Staff is friendly and the variety of delicious pies by the slice is plentiful. You also have a generous selection of desserts at the bakery counter! And what pizza place with it's weight dough wouldn't serve beer? Not Surf Rider! Their well stocked bar serves no less than 12 brews on tap, many of them from local breweries, including one of my favorites Thorn Street's Coconut Porter! I highly recommend Surf Rider!
